Hypopigmentation
What is hypopigmentation ?
Hypopigmentation is a “whitening” of the skin due to a loss or decrease in the production of melanin in the skin.
This pigmentation loss can be the result of trauma to the skin such as blisters, burns, dog bites, infections, pimples, scrapes, plastic and reconstructive surgery, removal of moles, skin cancers and any injuries that result in scarring.
It is also very common for facelift scars to hypopigment, or turn white.
